An Operating System is the basic software which manages a computer. It handles the way the hardware operates, the communication with peripheral devices like a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between all the applications, plus the prioritization of applications if multiple ones run at once. Any program which is installed on a desktop or a notebook works by sending requests to the OS for various services by using an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS is possible using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting field, the Operating System is what commands a web server along with any software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application for example a VOIP or a game server. In case there are virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that runs on the server host OS.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers
- Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs available on the market and we offer all 3 rather than just 1 as we realize that you might want to set up some software that has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there are different software programs you may install on the hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you would like to use one and because of this we offer several Control Panels too. Should you decide that you need to have another OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and set up the one that you'd like. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated server
solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license taxes, but they’re also regarded as the most dependable and risk-free OSs. We provide three different ones as each of them is backed by a different community. The packages which you can add on your hosting server are different and this could matter if you need to install some piece of software with specific requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the web hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the Operating System that you'll select. You can select any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order process, yet if necessary, we can always set up the server once again with an alternative one upon your request. As an additional service that you may add to the plan any time, we can update your OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible.
